USA Tariff Update

IMPORTANT Notice for TATAMI FIGHTWEAR USA Customers

From 29th August 2025, new U.S. customs regulations mean that all international orders will now be subject to tariff charges, due to the removal of the de minimis rule. Previously, this rule allowed you as a customer to import up to $800 per day of internationally produced products without paying additional duties or tariffs. Unfortunately, this exemption is ending, and U.S. customers will now see tariff charges applied to orders from Tatami Fightwear. These charges will clearly show in your checkout. We truly value our American community and don’t want these changes to stop you from enjoying the very best in martial arts gear. To help offset these new costs, we are introducing a substantial site-wide discount across all products. This special discount is designed to balance out the new tariff charges, ensuring you can continue shopping with Tatami Fightwear at great value. We remain committed to supporting you on your martial arts journey and thank you for your continued loyalty.

U.S. Customer FAQ – Tariff Changes from 29th August 2025

1. Why am I being charged tariffs?

From 29th August 2025, the U.S. government is removing the de minimis exemption. Previously, U.S. customers could import up to $800 per day of internationally produced products without paying tariffs. This exemption is ending, which means tariffs will now apply to Tatami Fightwear products shipped to the USA. We are working tirelessly to find solutions to ensure we can start manufacturing products within the USA at some stage in the future, but this is very costly and will take time.

2. How much will I pay in tariffs?

The exact tariff charge depends on the type of product you order and U.S. Customs’ classification and its Country of Origin. Typically, martial arts uniforms, rash guards, and similar apparel will be charged a percentage of the product’s value at the border. These charges will be clearly shown in your checkout cart.

3. Do these tariffs go to Tatami Fightwear?

No. These tariffs are U.S. government import charges, collected by U.S. Customs. Tatami Fightwear includes them in your cart, but we do not control or benefit from them.

4. How is Tatami Fightwear helping customers?

We greatly value our American customers and don’t want tariffs to get in the way of your training. That’s why we are introducing substantial sitewide discounts designed to offset much of the tariff cost. This way, you can continue to enjoy Tatami quality at great value.

5. Do I need to do anything different when ordering?

No — your checkout process stays the same but it will now also include the relevant tariff charges. Because we are collecting them at checkout, you will not be bothered by US Customs because we send your order to you directly as a DDP Shipment (Delivery Duty Paid - which means that the Duties/Tariff is already paid).

6. Will these changes affect my training gear delivery times?

No, because we continue to use Fedex International Priority Premium Service so you should receive your order within 2-3 working days, once it leaves our HQ and we usually pick your order within 1 day. There may be occasional delays at U.S. customs due to the new rules, but we’ll continue to ship orders quickly and provide tracking updates as always.
